Dr. Resul Pookutty, the legendary Oscar winner and a member of the Oscar Voting Jury thanked the Indian consulate for the reception and described how he became a success in Sound engineering and where the inspiration came from:
He said India is the home of great tradition of Sounds, the sounds of a Bullock cart in the rural India to the chilling sound of a bucket of water fetched from the well made me to listen to what was around us and missing now. So I created a sound library in 1998 to preserve sounds of the Rural India.

Resul continued the search for new medium and blending natural sounds in a film that was not common before. His experiments in creating and blending sound and music with natural sounds made a turning point in sound recording in Indian Cinema.
Resul Pookutty struggled 13 years experimenting new ideas to perfect his vision which is now accepted by the Bollywood to Hollywood and rest of the world.
The major breakthrough was the Oscar winning film “Slumdog Millionaire”, Resul said.

Resul credited India’s richest tradition behind his success and stated  traditionally knowledge has been passed on by telling and listening, but Sanskrit today is frozen from everyday life. Ramayana and Mahabharata still occupy our life. “I have a rich tradition to back me up, that came from my village (Anchal - Kerala), my country (India). When I meet others, I was transferring myself in knowing and learning about them.

When I was growing up I wanted to be like Mahatma Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln and many other world icons who taught and led us in the past. Today my dream is cinema, about its new dimensions; the dreams that doesn’t allow me to sleep”.
